why

Childbirth is a profound experience that impacts each of us. Our birth stories – our geneses – lay the foundation upon which our pasts, futures and even our faiths are built. They must be preserved. They must be protected.

My name is Abi Tschetter. I am a Denver-based childbirth educator and birth doula (woman’s caregiver or servant) who is passionate about childbirth. My own birth experiences have been significant in my marriage and family, and they have been pivotal in shaping me. I, as a woman and a child of the almighty God, have each been eternally transformed and profoundly moved by the power and BLESSING of birth.

I have been grieved to learn, however, that SO FEW women possess positive recollections of their own childbirth experiences. Many have felt out-of-control, fearful, disconnected, robbed and even raped of gift that lies in this important event. This is tragic. In Genesis 2:16, God says, “In pain, you shall bring forth children…” Our society has anesthetized childbirth in an attempt to avoid this pain. The truth is: THERE IS POWER AND PURPOSE IN PAIN (please don’t misunderstand; I am not talking about whether or not one should choose to have an epidural, here). What I am saying is that there is significance to the PROCESS of childbirth and the means by which it can draw us closer to the Lord, to others and to the truth of ourselves. Sadly, too many have believed a lie and settled for less.

In an attempt to defend, proclaim and facilitate the truth and power of childbirth, I began Eden’s Birth. Through prenatal education and continuous labor support, Eden’s Birth “empowers women to labor, live and love by design.” Consistently, our mothers require less pain medication, fewer medical interventions and they leave their birth experiences with peace, joy and a distinct awareness of the miracle of childbirth and the presence of God in the process.

If what I am saying resonates with you, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD. I am certain that the option of an empowered, supported, Christ-centered birth devoid of fear will benefit many women; it may even benefit you. I ask that you will prayerfully pass along word of Eden’s Birth to any and every woman whom we may serve.

My prayer for Eden’s Birth is that it will provide encouragement to families, help to restore what has been stolen, replace the fear in childbirth with power, love and sound mind, and bring the GLORY of birth back to God. If you are willing, will you kindly tell someone about Eden’s Birth and join me in these prayers? Thank you!
